Artist's Statement:
This is my first sequined project, although I've been bead knitting for a little while now. I love the campy effect sequins occupy a liminal state between cool and tacky. If used the right way, they are an easy and interesting way to dress up an old standard. If overdone, you end up looking like a 1970's Cher. Anyway, this hat is very simple, yet I think it's appealing in both it''s simplicity and it's sparkle. What's more important is that I learned alot about design and aesthetic while making this hat, and I'm looking forward to making more in variations on this theme.
