The first of the new cache of purse handles goes to work, supporting a thin dark brown denim "Eye" bag, with a pocket mouth for a cel phone. eyebag2.jpgCU

It's lined with gold printed african cotton, and has more pockets inside, measures about 14" x 18". Not done with this one yet, it needs a few more tweaks.

Clearly, the heat is softening my brain. Can I finally be gtting tired of everything abstract? Probably not, although this was fun and the first of more like it.

I had a fantastic day yesterday, despite it being so hot out it felt like you were wrapped in a wet wool blanket. I was in the city all morning shopping for the store, and running around all over the garment district. Found Wonderful things, easily. {not normal! Usually have to sort through mounds of ugliness to find the treasures} I did a favor for Anna, who's getting married next month: she needed a delicate 14k gold chain to go with a 14k charm for her mother in law, and I agreed to find her one. During this process, I also found, quite by accident, a new wholesale source for Indian 22k, right in the garment district! This is major, as my shop sells alot of 22k jewellery, and I have been going up to Jackson Heights, Queens to Little India to source it. An entire days journey, which I rarely have time for... so now I can get my stock during weekly forays in the garment district. {THANK YOU, Grandpa!} I also found faux horn purse handles for less than manufacturer price, so I bought a pile for future embroidered or felted bags {for the shop}.

After I returned to Brooklyn and opened the shop, I got a pile of lovely gifts from Marta, completely unexpectedly! She recently started a new business, and I put her cards on my counter, which got her some great clients, I'm so happy for that, she's an awesome artist as well. I'm eating my Le Petit Ecolier chocolate cookies with cherries this am for breakfast, and the flowers are gracing the shop, Thank you so much, Marta!

Just feeling especially happy and grateful for all I do have, which includes lovely, caring friends, and a thriving, fun business. {Grandpa, thank you again.}

Karma is only a bitch sometimes, othertimes she's a sweetie! :->

Now going to embroider some {more} black baby onesies...

My Pal Shitfoot {Dany, I know you get that}. Murphy actually stepped into another dog's crap this am, what a freaking mess. Then he stood there holding the soiled paw in the air, unwilling to walk it off. GRRRR!!! Here he is laughing about it later.

Fall knitting and cutting of fabric is well underway. I found a sewer who loves production work, that frees me up to just cut and later embellish, I'm thrilled!!! Alternating that with summer activities and long naps. Very nice.

Expecting huge order of baby alpaca this afternoon.

Too busy to even boot up, if I owe you an email, it will get to you soon. Sorry! Looking at Monday as an studio day to catch up. Wedding shower tonight right after work for friends Anna and Michael at the home of David, The World's Strongest Man. No shit, he wins the strongman competition every year internationally. Nice guy, too.

Working on this seasons version of Double Label Diamond tees, Heavy Rotation and Redlipstick:
doublelabeldiamonds06.jpgCU

At the trade show last Tuesday, I saw the Heavy Rotation guys, and they told me another shopkeeper in my neighborhood asked for and tried to order the same shirts I carry, perhaps not realizing I modify them, or planning to copy them? I don't know. *sigh* But I do know it's a small world, Lady! Expand your horizons a bit! There are hundreds of fabulous tshirt designers out there right now, do you have to get the exact same ones as my shop?

Just caught Miss Penny, a true longbody, running in her sleep. She must have half a mile of intestines in there. Note the summer-only freckles on her tummy.

Melting two days ago while attempting to clean house during a heatwave. My apt. was like an oven. That's right, no bra. oo!xxx

Was in glorious air-conditioning all day yesterday at trade shows, the good ones. Ordered many lovely, exotic things for Fall. English men's buttondowns. Found an excellent new backpack to carry at the shop, small enough for a woman, big enough for a man, tons-o-pockets. Over the top Gold printed on black men's hoodies from Japan, limited edition, a very successful crack dealer look. Lots more. It was a fun day.

It was a wonderful weekend of presents for me, and it's not even my birthday!

One of my customers works at Bravo on "Project Runway", and gave me this bag, which I gladly will sport as my new knitting bag! I LOVE that show! I did NOT ask her the results of this new season, which of course is completely shot except for the last three contestants, that'll be shot in September during Fashion Week here in NYC.

Then the awesome Alexandra brought me a jar of spicey, homemade pickles...MMMMM!!!! Thank you so much! I Love Pickles!

I also received a CD of my old bands music, the very early days of it, recorded by Dino, ex-husband of Wendy. Strangely enough, he's friends with my neighbor Ian, who I dated once about 25 years ago. Ian told Dino he knows me, and this was my prize! This is a bunch of studio practices and demos so old I barely remember playing on them. jeez. unbelievable.

For your Monday morning listening pleasure, in MP3 format, led by the inimitable Wendy Wild, totally unpublished anywhere ever in history, Pulsallama doing their original composition: FOGHORNS {Sorry! having computer mp3 conversion problems, and have too much to do today to fart around with this much longer, will try again tonight}

It seems obvious to me why we were both worshipped and reviled. :->

My lovely new case:

There are also some shots of my shop as it looks today, a little bit of house jewellery, and the obligatory Kitty picture up on Flickr.

Busy, as usual. even more so this year, as I'm trying to figure out business "growing pains", and planning for Fall. Also going to revive the webshop soon...

A milestone of sorts, 10, 010 views of my Flickr photostream today. wow.

I just got the shit scared out of me by a giant raccoon. We just walked the dogs, and were hanging out on the stoop in the cool night air, when a 30 lb raccoon came running along the stoops of the houses on my side of the block. It was big, fat and healthy, and I think it got out of the backyards somehow, and is trying to get back there. It kept running up the stoops halfway looking for an exit/entrance. It's garbage night tonight, so it must have gotten tempted to get out on the street somehow looking for food. Damn it, all I need is for Penny or Murphy to get bitten or scratched by a raccoon. Murphy wanted to chase it badly. I barely got them back inside before it came up our steps. What a weird, exaggerated mix around here, Old school Carribbean families and community, new people like me, drug dealers and gangs, and now panicky wildlife.

Working on fall things for the shop, planning and getting ready to execute a small amount of shop renovation Monday and Tuesday with Anna. All is well. Not really thinking in words too much right now.
