Handknitting hats in high gear, the latest permutation are tightly knit baby alpaca/merino twisted stitch hoods, partially lined in white rabbit fur. I'll post a picture of this when it's complete. They take a while, I have to wash and block carefully before sewing the fur in.

I have broken another camera, I think. Look at the white values, it shoots like this randomly, and I'm tired of losing shots to it. Damn it! Very good with computers, really crappy with cameras. *sigh* But before this one broke, it took the pictures of the West Indian Day Parade that are included in the just published "Contemporary Ethnic Geographies in America" {Miyares and Airriess eds. 2007}! One of them made the cover {the three guys on stilts}, and there are three more inside in black and white. They're in the chapter about the Parade, written by Professor Michael James Hawkins. Pretty excited about it, and honored to have photos in it! Congrats, Prof. Hawkins!

SHMOO! Courtesy of the talented Michael Paulus. ;->

For certain obscure, unguessable reasons, this is going to cause me to laugh internally for a long, long time.

The following is a test I finished this am, it's an original cabled knit/purl pattern that is mirror imaged and knit upside down as well. This piece tested the pattern as well as the basic shaping of the hat, it works, and the next one will get fine tuned shaping. It's knit and shaped side to side, including the ties. I flattened it our for this shot, but it's not flat at all. I need to graph that pattern out before I go on to the next thing and forget it. :->

I'm taking a studio day today, with a laundry break later. Whoohoo!

One of the caps with the "Deadwood" inspired cleaver, anyone who saw this last season of it will remember the episode.

Looking forward to a few hours off tommorrow. FINALLY!!!!

A blurry shot of the reworked Swirl pattern, I've knit almost 2 dozen hats for the shop since I posted here last, Swirls, Shrooms and cabled caps for the guys all in baby alpaca and/or merino.

Every day is a mini-marathon, and I'm getting most of it done. Very glad Jeffrey won on Project Runway! Had some ironwork done at the studio building. Still developing patterns. Talk soon...xxx.s

Super busy, no time to write here. Hope to complete the Shroom pattern on Monday/Tuesday of next week.
