Andean Diagonal and Paisley Wood Knot Fairisle Notes


These are 24-stitch repeats, so it is suitable for hand or machine knitting. If you knit by hand, there exists the possibility of adding texture in the form of fairisle perl technique, which in it's most basic form is done like this:

Follow the graph for color, but perl every stitch on the right side, instead of knitting it, leaving the momentarily unused color covering the knit side.

A variation could be to just perl one color, and knit the other one, always making sure that the unused yarn is on the wrong (back) side. Seed, rib rows, moss, these are all good base texture stitches, and the changes of color really do interesting things to the fabric, especially with seed.

Much more fun than jersey, if you get tired of it.
