Wheat Coin Cable and Notes

This cable is good for a panel, or you can do some cut and paste, and half drop the pattern for an allover effect. (Half drop means starting one cable on row one, and starting the next on on row 17 or 19, for this pattern. You need to make sure that your cable crossings are on the same rows.) If you do a half drop pattern,it might look better if you have the sides of the "coin" part moved over so that there is only one or two rows of perl between the cables, nesting them in. Otherwise, you get alot of empty perled room between the cables. One last thing: If you are using a smooth yarn where this type of detail will show, twist the stitches (knit into the back) of the wheat ear, and the tiny 1x1 cable that goes up the middle. There was no way I could represent this (consistently), at this point, maybe I'll figure it out soon.
