The New Shop: 560 Vanderbilt Avenue, Brooklyn!! Hatched November 16th, 2004, Opening Saturday, January 15th.

Oh man. Emotions fluctuating between exhilaration/What have I done.

There's another window under there, not decided whether I want to watch the
pigeons breed in the airshaft or not.

Looks like 1940's wallpaper behind the '70's paneling.

The worst of the holes in the ceiling, found underneath the creepy commercial dropped ceiling.
I'll get back almost 2 feet of air space.

January 20, 2005: Re-opened yesterday! Sign is being installed Saturday morning, weather permitting. Still many small decorative things to be done inside. Here are a few "after" pictures. More every day for a few days.

The Decapus!
The Decapus! It's 4 and a half feet from elbow to elbow, and very bright. I love it with all my heart. It has a built-in dimmer in case I get bored.

Satin Lace Print Curtains
Ecru satin, black lace printed curtains in the dressing room. I'm using this fabric in many places.

January 20, 9:51 pm. Here are some from today, after dark. The green dress is knitted with a crocheted edge in cream angora/wool.

January 22, 2005: Views left/right outside during this first of the year, very beautiful snowstorm. I received a homemade loaf of bread today as an opening present from Jen and Audrey and Agnes!
Samantha and the back of the shop/ silver curtained dressing room, still unfinished, hopefully done by next Wed. All just cosmetic.

January 26th, 2005: Shot of the completed sign, ready to be installed on Friday. We missed our window of installation opportunity because of the snow last Saturday. The next picture will be the front of the shop, with the sign in place!

The new sign!

January 28th, 2005: Kalene and Dan of Thundercut built the sign. They installed it today. This was very exciting and fun, although it was below freezing out. We took a tea and lemon biscotti break. The only thing left to do outside is to paint the brown facade gloss black in the Springtime.

The font is Chanks "Asswipe'". It's a sloppy, snaggletooth font. This picture just doesn't do it justice, the red is high gloss, and the back and sides are matte steel grey. It's exactly what I saw in my head.
